What can I import into Quill?+
Eight kinds of content: characters and NPCs, wiki pages, scenes and locations, quests, session notes, loot and items, handouts, and encounter tables. You can target one type at a time, or paste mixed notes and let Quill work out what is what.
Do my notes have to be formatted a particular way?+
No. The Mixed Notes path takes a brain dump, a session log, a stat block, or a wall of prose and sorts it into the right records. If you would rather control the result exactly, use the structured path: download the template and upload a Quill-formatted JSON or CSV, which is imported verbatim.
Can I check the results before anything is saved?+
Yes. Every import stops at a review step. You see each extracted record grouped by type, can edit fields inline, drop anything you do not want, and decide what happens when something already exists in your campaign — update it, create it as new, or skip it. Nothing is written until you confirm.
Is campaign import free?+
Import is available on every tier, including the free Scroll plan, with the same functionality everywhere — only the quantity differs. Structured JSON/CSV imports are unlimited on all plans. Note-based imports are metered on Scroll (3 per campaign) and unlimited on Tome and Grimoire.
Can I import from D&D Beyond?+
Quill does not connect to or store D&D Beyond data — it is a companion, not a replacement. You can paste your own notes from anywhere, and link party characters to their D&D Beyond sheets from the party roster.
What file types can I upload?+
Markdown (.md) and plain text (.txt) files for note-based imports, and JSON or CSV files for structured imports. You can also paste directly into the page if you would rather not deal with files at all.
