Initiative Order with Auto-Roller

Roll initiative for your entire party and all combatants with one click. The auto-roller handles 1d20 + DEX modifier for each creature, sorts the tracker by result, and lets you re-roll individuals selectively. Manual entry still works if you prefer.

HP Management with Three-State Color

HP bars shift from sage to gold to crimson as combatants take damage. Above 50% is green, 30-50% is gold, below 30% is crimson — you see who's in danger at a glance. Inline damage and heal inputs let you update HP without opening a modal.

Conditions, Concentration & Difficulty

Track conditions on any combatant — Blinded, Stunned, Poisoned, and more. Concentration markers keep spell tracking visible. Encounter difficulty (Easy to Deadly) is calculated from party and monster CR totals and shown in the tracker header.

Split-Party Combat

When the party splits, run separate combat encounters simultaneously. The ActiveCombatSwitcher lets you flip between active combats with one click — each maintains its own initiative order, round count, and combatant list.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a D&D battle tracker?+

A D&D battle tracker is a digital tool that helps Dungeon Masters manage combat encounters. It tracks initiative order, hit points, conditions, and rounds so you can focus on storytelling instead of bookkeeping.

Is the Quill battle tracker free?+

Yes. The battle tracker is free on all Quill tiers, including the free Scroll tier. There is no paywall for any combat feature.

Can I track multiple combats at the same time?+

Yes. Quill supports split-party combat with the ActiveCombatSwitcher. When your party splits, you can run separate initiative trackers and switch between them with one click.

How does encounter difficulty work?+

Quill calculates encounter difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, or Deadly) based on the total XP value of all monsters compared to your party size and level. The difficulty badge appears in the tracker header so you can gauge the challenge at a glance before or during combat.
