Elegist

You improvise dark, atmospheric stories where the challenge comes from emotional truth. You don't plan the grief. You follow the scene to its honest conclusion, and honest conclusions aren't always kind. The darkness isn't designed. It earns itself. A character's choice leads somewhere real, and "somewhere real" is sometimes a funeral.

You're not running tragedy for its own sake. You're following the logic of a world where actions have weight, and weight accumulates. The immersion is the challenge: players are present in a world that responds honestly, and honesty is hard.

Strengths

• +Emotional scenes hit hard because they weren't telegraphed. The campaign earns its weight.
• +Genuine dramatic aliveness: players feel the DM is fully present and following the story's truth
• +The best sessions feel genuinely co-written by the table in real time

Blind Spots

• -Improvised emotional consequence can feel arbitrary without underlying world-logic grounding it. Players can mistake earned dark for punishing dark.
• -Heavy tables require the Elegist to monitor player capacity alongside narrative truth; the story can be honest in ways that need a check-in first

The Tension

Continuity can get soft. The world can feel thin if the vision was never translated into documentation someone else could verify.
