Session prep is optional. The story is what happens when players make choices in a world that has opinions. You don't write the arc; you follow the consequences. The table generates everything together, and you're there to make sure those consequences land.

Players ask if you're okay because you always look like you're thinking about something.

Navigator

Zero prep, but never lost. You follow the table wherever it leads, and your yeses are coherent. When you accept a player's premise, you track where it goes. You're not writing anything down, but you're holding the world's internal logic in your head and honoring it. The improv is real and the consistency is real. You navigate by reading currents, not by following charts.

Different from the Wanderer, who follows the table and accepts that the world might drift. The Navigator cares about where the world has been and won't contradict it to get where it's going next.

Strengths

• +Genuinely responsive to the table while maintaining world coherence. The best of improvisation and consistency.
• +Adapts to any group, energy level, or unexpected moment without losing the world's internal logic
• +Players feel free and feel the world makes sense; the most sustainable improvisational style for long campaigns

Blind Spots

• -The invisible tracking system breaks under high-entropy tables. Disorganized player energy or multiple simultaneous ideas can overwhelm the architecture.
• -Can appear overconfident in improvisation; occasionally navigates into contradictions without recognizing the exit is blocked until too late

The Tension

Without structural discipline, campaigns can lose continuity. Players who need to plan ahead may feel like there's nothing to grip.
