Black Tide

Three days out of Vethara, the navigator went over the side. No splash, no shout. One moment he was at the bow rail; the next, the bow rail was empty. Someone has drawn a spiral on the mainmast in salt, and none of the twelve remaining crew will look at it directly. The captain hasn't left the cabin. The cargo hold is sealed, and the manifest lists its contents as "recovered salvage, iron and stone, origin unknown." The ship keeps moving. No one has asked yet who is keeping the course. That question is coming, and when it arrives, it will be looking for you.
